MISADVENTURES
---------- OF A ----------
METEOROLOGIST

Dan Koch's life began with a tornado. Not his own. The one that tore through Belvidere, Illinois, in the spring of 1967, killed twenty-four people, and arrived thirteen minutes before the warning did. He was born that autumn into a town that never stopped remembering it, and he spent the next thirty-two years inside the National Weather Service making sure it happened to somebody else a little less often.

Misadventures of a Meteorologist is the view from behind the radar screen. From Texas to Arizona, back to Texas, and finally to Arkansas. A flight through the eyewall of a hurricane, and later a cruise ship that sailed into one, an experience Koch does not recommend. Office cats, midnight shifts, a UFO he still cannot explain, and a Friday afternoon in 2023 when an EF3 tornado cut thirty-four miles through a metro area of half a million people and killed no one. The book is funny, until it isn't.
